An information exchange for gas station service technicians

Here is a brief explanation of some of the questions you may have about this forum.
Your cooperation will help keep this free service available.

Can I post items for sale here?

No, except that items may be offered for sale in a threaded response to a legitimate "wanted item" request. We have a special Classifieds page for advertising "for sale" items. We do have a free trial advertising offer on our Classifieds page.

What other kind of inappropriate content is subject to being deleted?

Profane language, personal attacks, sexual comments, illegal activities, non-petro subject matter, multiple submissions and worthless drivel.

Can I post petro "wanted" items here?

Yes. You are encouraged to post specific gas station items that you are looking for. Mention them clearly in the Subject and describe them in the Message area. Other techniciansrs may respond on the Shop Talk page or directly via email. You may request to have your posting deleted when it is no longer needed.

Can I put html tags in my posts?

Yes. You can use HTML tags, but only in body of the message. The maintainer of this site has allowed HTML in the Message part of your posting on a trial basis. Your HTML markup will appear in the posting just as it would on a normal Web page. Please do not abuse this privilege.

Why are there colons in the message when I try to post a followup?

Colons appear in the message dialog box when you try to follow up up on a message to indicate that those lines are quoting the previous document. The owner of this bulletin board has decided to enable the quoting of previous messages to give context. You may delete the quoted original message from your response.

Why didn't my post show up?

Your post most likely did not show up, because your browser did not reload the page, it simply pulled it out of cache. Please reload your browser and it should then appear. Some ISP's cache pages at their server. If your's does, try a "shift+reload" forced reload using Netscape, or wait until their cache expires (1 to 4 hrs., sometimes 24 hrs.). Please don't post it over again.

Why was part of my post cut off?

When you include the " character in your message, it causes the Perl script to end the message. Avoid the " by using the word inches or just leave it out altogether.

Where can I get the scripts for this program?

The scripts are written in Perl and created by Matt Wright. You must have CGI server access to enable their use. They are free to anyone who wishes to use them and you can get them as well as other scripts at: http://worldwidemart.com/scripts/ . Enjoy!
